Flowood, Mississippi - Dr. Danny O'Keefe is pleased to welcome his niece, Dr. Jan Belote, back to the practice. Dr. Belote is a third generation dentist who has practiced in the Jackson area for 24 years. Dr. O'Keefe and Dr. Belote previously practiced together between 1990 and 1998.
"Coming back to Family Dental Care has been wonderful personally and professionally," Dr. Belote said. "It's gratifying to work with family, even more so when that family is a dentist of Danny's caliber. I'm proud to be a member of this team."
"Dr. Jan Belote is a wonderful Christian professional with a caring heart and attitude towards our patients and our staff," Dr. O'Keefe said. "Our reunion and combining of our offices has been so great for both of us and our patients. We have combined knowledge and experience that is better for all."
A native of Brandon, Mississippi, Dr. Belote graduated at the top of her class at the University of Mississippi Dental School in 1990. While at dental school, she received many awards and scholarships for academic and clinical excellence and even served as the editor of Impressions, the school's student/alumni dental journal.
Dr. Belote served as state coordinator for the Association of Women Dentists and as alternate to the board of trustees for the Mississippi Dental Association. Since its inception in 1995, she has worked with the Donated Dental Services Program of Mississippi, an organization committed to providing dental care treatment to the elderly and those with special needs.
Dr. Belote is a member of the following professional organizations and societies:
Dr. Belote has been married to Charley Belote for 28 years. Charley is a cancer survivor who owns and operates Belote Contracting. They have one daughter, Gracey Cole Belote. Gracey is graduating from Brandon High School this year and plans to attend Millsaps College in the fall.
Dr. Belote attends St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She is active in the church and also at Gray Center, the Episcopal Camp and Conference Center based in Canton, Mississippi.
In her spare time, Dr. Belote enjoys reading, writing, walking, karate, youth work, water sports, snow skiing, travel, cooking, and crafts.
Having two highly skilled dental care specialists at the practice will be a major benefit to all patients who visit Family Dental Care.
"Jan practices dentistry the way I do and we have worked together in the past," Dr. O'Keefe said. "She provides excellent dental care and believes in the continued growth of our practice through continuing her dental education as well as her spiritual growth."
Dr. O'Keefe also noted that the state-of-the-art technology at Family Dental Care will be especially helpful to those who undergo treatment. "We have a broader spectrum of dental techniques, which is an advantage to our patients. This normally means fewer referrals out of our practice."
"Danny has always kept current with the latest advancements and technology available, and it's rewarding to use equipment we have at this office," Dr. Belote said. "For example, I love using the dental microscope. My family laughs when I come home talking about what I was able to see through the microscope each day, but what I can see using the microscope improves my clinical outcomes, and that's no laughing matter."
Dr. Belote added that she was also excited by the practice's use of CEREC technology, a special CAD/CAM unit that can mill a customized dental crown from a digital impression in just a single visit to the practice. "It's really a facility to be proud of," she said.
